Muslim Council of Elders strongly condemns extremist calls to bomb Al-Aqsa Mosque

ABU DHABI, 20th April, 2025 (WAM) -- The Muslim Council of Elders, under the chairmanship of His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, has strongly condemned the extremist incendiary statements by Israeli settler organisations calling for the bombing of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock.

The Council firmly rejects these extremist and provocative calls, which constitute a blatant violation of international laws and conventions and a grave affront to the religious sentiments of nearly two billion Muslims worldwide. It calls for urgent and adequate protection of religious sanctities and an immediate end to the ongoing violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque and its sacred compound.

The Council also strongly denounces the violations committed by Israeli occupation authorities against Christians in Jerusalem, including restrictions on access to churches and physical assaults. Such actions signal a troubling escalation and pose a serious threat to peace and stability in the region.

The Muslim Council of Elders calls on the international community to take swift and decisive measures to stop these violations and all forms of aggression against the Palestinian people. It further calls for a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause-one that brings an end to over seven decades of suffering for the Palestinian people and guarantees their legitimate right to establish an independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
