DUBAI, 27th April, 2025 (WAM) -- The 12th International Congress for Joint Reconstruction, Middle East (ICJR ME) concluded today at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai, with 1,000 doctors and surgeons from 20 countries participating.
The Congress emphasised the importance of doctors staying up-to-date with global advancements, particularly in modern technologies like robotics and artificial intelligence (AI), given their expected significance in the coming years amid the rapid acceleration of scientific discoveries.
Dr. Samih Tarabichi, President of the Congress organised by Info Plus Events, stated that the use of robotics and artificial intelligence in joint replacement represents a significant advancement, aiding doctors during surgeries. However, he emphasised the critical need for thorough training and proper qualification of doctors to ensure effective use of these technologies.
Dr. Tarabichi urged all doctors to carefully and accurately study the advantages and disadvantages of each technique, stressing that these tools are ultimately supportive aids and must be used with high precision.
He also noted that most international companies marketing these technologies prioritise training surgeons on the devices, given their sensitivity and the fact that they are ultimately applied to human patients.
He highlighted that the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction (ICJR), an independent non-profit organisation, was founded with the goal of revolutionising medical education in orthopedics by developing innovative educational methods that have helped improve patient health outcomes globally.
He noted that the organisation has decided to expand its presence in the region by including four additional countries alongside the UAE and Egypt. Furthermore, the number of Illinois Board of Directors meetings will increase to four annually, and 16 training courses will be held across regional countries to equip surgeons with the skills needed in robotics and artificial intelligence and ensure they stay aligned with modern technological advancements.
He also announced that ICJR will launch an innovative new website next year, which will serve as a platform for exchanging ideas and information among local and international doctors, as well as showcasing the latest research and innovations for the benefit of medical professionals worldwide.
Over the past three days, the conference hosted more than 21 sessions and 130 scientific lectures, showcasing the latest technological advancements and introducing modern techniques in the field of joint surgery, including joint design, the use of 3D printing, and innovations in robotic surgeries.
Complex cases were also presented for discussion, alongside seminars and workshops that trained doctors on best practices for joint replacement. Additionally, the conference covered the latest global developments in sports and ankle medicine, as well as joint reimplantation according to specific requirements.
The event also featured the presentation of 39 scientific research papers, including 13 from doctors and resident doctors, and four training workshops organised by companies participating in the exhibition accompanying the conference.
