Patna (Bihar) [India], October 27 (ANI): Chhattisgarh BJP MLA Bhawna Bohra on Monday took a swipe at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, saying his political promises sound like dreams he sees at night and announces the next morning.
Speaking to ANI in Patna, Bhawna Bohra said, 'It is like someone who goes to sleep and wakes up in the morning and says that I had this dream last night. I don't have any real explanation for it...Tejashwi Yadav gives a media statement in the morning on the dreams he sees at night.'
Bohra welcomed the Election Commission's announcement of the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), and said the exercise is essential to remove duplicate and invalid names from the voters' list.
'This is absolutely a welcome thing...This filter is necessary for the people who died or whose names are mentioned in two places for voting,' she said.
The Election Commission has scheduled a press conference today to provide details on the nationwide SIR. Earlier, on October 6, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced that voter lists would be revised across the country.
Bohra also criticised the RJD for opposing the Waqf Act, accusing the party of indulging in divisive politics ahead of the elections.
'They never made any effort to bring a bill for the welfare of the public. The Waqf Bill came with complete clarity, and the amendments in it are not against any religion. They are meant to ensure transparency, improve the justice process, and prevent corruption. The way the RJD is reacting, talking about tearing up the bill, shows that they are trying to do divisive politics using Muslim voters, sensing the election atmosphere,' she said.
Her remarks came after RJD leader Qari Sohaib claimed that the party's Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav would 'scrap the Waqf law' if elected Bihar Chief Minister. The Waqf (Amendment) Bill was passed by Parliament after a marathon debate, with opposition parties opposing it. The President gave assent to the bill on April 5 this year.
The voting for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, whereas bye-elections for eight seats across seven states and Union Territories will be held on November 11. The results for both will be declared on November 14. (ANI)
